Tom Ashenden Named to Georgia Super Lawyers for the 14th Consecutive Year

Recognition is meaningful. Earning that recognition year after year carries even greater weight.

Ashenden & Associates, P.C. is proud to announce that founding attorney Thomas J. “Tom” Ashenden has been selected for the Georgia Super Lawyers list for the 14th consecutive year. Tom has earned this distinction every year from 2014 through 2027. Each year involves a new evaluation, as this honor does not renew automatically.

Fourteen consecutive selections reflect the professional reputation Tom has built during more than 40 years of practicing law in Georgia. They also speak to the consistency that has defined his career.

For Tom, however, the recognition is about more than another award in his biography. His career has centered on helping injured people and their families during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.

What Is Super Lawyers?

Super Lawyers is a rating service that recognizes accomplished attorneys across more than 70 practice areas. Attorneys are selected annually on a state-by-state basis.

The process combines independent research with nominations and evaluations from other attorneys. Candidates are reviewed using 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement.

No more than 5% of attorneys in each state are selected for the Super Lawyers list. That limited selection makes the recognition meaningful for people researching legal representation. It offers an independent measure of an attorney’s experience, accomplishments, and professional standing.

This recognition gives prospective clients another meaningful way to evaluate Tom’s experience, professional reputation, and longstanding record of service.

How Are Attorneys Selected to Super Lawyers?

Super Lawyers uses a detailed, multiphase selection process. Attorneys cannot simply apply, pay for inclusion, or nominate themselves.

The process includes four primary stages:

  1. Creation of the candidate pool: Attorneys may receive nominations from their peers or be identified by the Super Lawyers research team. The process includes safeguards designed to discourage coordinated or reciprocal nominations.
  2. Independent research: Researchers evaluate candidates using 12 indicators of professional achievement and peer recognition. Factors include experience, verdicts and settlements, honors, community service, professional involvement, education, and scholarly work.
  3. Peer evaluation: Attorneys with high point totals receive additional evaluation from lawyers within their practice areas through the Super Lawyers Blue Ribbon Review.
  4. Final selection: Super Lawyers compares candidates within law firm size categories before making final selections. Super Lawyers also reviews professional standing before publishing its list.

This evaluation starts each year again. Tom’s 14 consecutive selections represent 14 separate years of consideration. That consistency helps distinguish this recognition from a one-time professional honor.

Why 14 Consecutive Super Lawyers Selections Matter

People rarely search for a personal injury attorney because life is going according to plan. They may be recovering from a serious accident, missing work, facing medical expenses, or helping an injured family member. At that moment, choosing an attorney can feel especially personal. Experience matters, but so do reputation, communication, professional respect, and a proven commitment to clients.

Super Lawyers considers several of these qualities during its selection process. Its research examines professional accomplishments, peer recognition, case results, community involvement, and experience.

Tom’s 14 consecutive selections show sustained recognition rather than a single standout year. He has remained part of a select group of Georgia attorneys through repeated annual evaluations.

For prospective clients, that record provides another reason to consider Tom among Georgia’s highly regarded and established personal injury attorneys.

More Than Four Decades Representing Injured People

Awards can tell part of an attorney’s story. Tom’s career provides the broader picture. He has practiced law in Georgia since 1981 and has spent more than four decades representing people harmed by negligence.

His personal injury practice includes matters involving:

Throughout his career, Tom has also contributed to the legal profession through writing, educational lectures, professional associations, and mock trial programs. He has served as both an instructor and judge in mock trial competitions, sharing knowledge developed during decades of practice.

Together, these experiences reflect an accomplished career built through years of legal work, professional involvement, and service to others.

A Respected Attorney Who Remains Connected to His Community

Tom’s commitment to serving people does not stop when he leaves the office. Following the post-COVID return of ministry services at the Fulton County Jail, Tom renewed his Visitor’s Badge so he could resume ministry work there.

It is a quieter accomplishment than an award, but it says something important about the person behind the professional recognition. Tom has spent decades working directly with people during difficult moments. His continued involvement at the Fulton County Jail reflects that same commitment to personal service within the community.

Professional honors matter, but character, consistency, and how an attorney treats people matter too.
