Gary has broad and successful experience with personal injury trials and settlements in state court and Federal court and has been admitted to the State Bar of Georgia since 1989. Before becoming a personal injury attorney representing the accident victims, Gary represented insurance companies and saw firsthand how they try to bully personal injury victims and try to avoid paying damages.

Between his time representing insurance companies and his work representing accident victims, Gary ran a successful business working in Georgia’s film and television industry.

Gary graduated from the University of Florida College of Law, with honors. While there, he became Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law and Public Policy. Prior to law school, Gary double-majored in Biology and Chemistry at Graceland University. Not only did Gary excel academically, he was also a campus leader, serving as President of his fraternity and Speaker of the Senate in student government.

While credentials will tell you a lot about the attorney handling your case . . . you might want to know more about the person handling your case. Gary grew up in tough circumstances. He learned to stand up to bullies, and he learned to fight passionately for what’s right. His parents never made it past the 8th grade, and he was the first person in his entire extended family to attend college. He paid his own way through college and law school. Many people thought all of Gary’s arrows were pointing down . . . but Gary overcame a lot to become the person he is today.

Though growing up self-reliant helped shaped the person he has become, many people helped steer him in the right direction. The good people who helped him along the way, the people that gave Gary their time and positive input, shape him to this day. The old saying goes, “Success has many authors.” This is especially true in Gary’s life. It is the sense of “giving back” that drives Gary to this day, honoring those who helped him overcome his tough beginnings. Bad things sometimes happen to good people. Standing up to bullies and helping good people get what they deserve is Gary Powell’s passion.
